Achaeans win 1st Sectional Title in School history

The boys soccer team was playing for its first sectional championship in school history and didn’t disappoint their fans.  The breezy weather conditions would also play a part.  Herron Sophomore Austin Osburn would get the Achaeans on the board first 7 minutes into the game with a hard shot from out that found its way through the goalie’s hands and into the back of the net.  The score would remain 1-0 going into half even though the Achaeans were out shooting Monrovia 15-8.

17 minutes into the 2nd half, the leading goal scorer for the Achaeans, Junior Sam Kreis, would take a through ball played by captain Parker Shelbourne and beat the keeper the awake the crowd.  Shelbourne would use the wind to his advantage on a cornerkick at the 27 minute mark and curve it into the goal.  Spencer Harke would finish the scoring with 12 seconds left to go into the game to give the Achaeans’ their first Sectional Title in school history.

Herron will take on Batesville on Saturday at 12:00 pm in Greensburg, IN in Regionals.
