Boys Soccer makes its way to the Sectional Championship

The varsity boys soccer team battled Edgewood HS last night in the Semi-Finals at Monrovia HS.  Freshman Mason Litvan would put the Achaeans on the board first at 7:24 of the first half on a one-timer from Junior, Sam Kreis.  Less than a minute later, Kreis would take a pass from Freshman Jaden House, make his way around two defenders and put it past the keeper for a 2-0 lead.  5 minutes later, Herron was looking to score again off a cornerkick but Edgewood countered and scored to make it 2-1.  The Achaeans responded again within a minute off a freekick from Junior, Evan Barnes.  His shot was deflected and Litvan cleaned it up for his 2nd goal on the night.  2 minutes later, Edgewood would score on a rifle shot over the head of goalkeeper, Immanuel Kleinschmidt to narrow the gap.  The score would remain 3-2 until Kreis would receive a pass from Christopher Wagner and widen the lead within 4 minutes of halftime.

The 2nd half was all Achaeans.  Litvan would get his hattrick on a pass from Senior Parker Shelbourne at 3:37.  Kreis would get his hattrick on a pass from Freshman Avery McGuire at 15:47 to make the lead 6-2.  House would later steal the ball and score unassisted to complete the scoring.  The defense would take it from there only allowing 5 shots in the 2nd half (13 total).

The Achaeans will be playing Saturday afternoon at 2:00 pm at Monrovia High School against Monrovia for a chance to win their first Sectional Title in school history.  Herron had beaten Monrovia earlier this season 5-3.  Hope you can come on out and cheer on your Achaeans this weekend.
