Achaeans News · Achaeans Finish Strong at Hoosier State Relays


The Herron Achaeans finished their indoor track season with strong performances in all six events that qualified to compete in the Hoosier State Relays at IU on Saturday, March 23, 2019. School and personal records were set in most events, as well as a historic second-place podium finish! Congratulations to all of the athletes who represented Herron at the state meet!

Aubrey Myers competed in the long jump, finishing with a jump of  14’9″.

Eli Eckert set a new school record in the 3200 meter run, finishing with a time of 9:49.55.

Rachel Bowling set a school record in the pole vault, reaching a height of 11’0″ and receiving a medal for second place.

The boys’ 4×800 meter relay finished with a time of 8:50.42, and featured John Bowling, Eli Shaw, Jason Montgomery, and Gabe Trivers. Three of the boys set personal best times for their legs of the relay!

The boys’ distance medley relay set a school record with a time of 11:17.94 and finished in ninth place, less than one second off the podium! The runners were John Bowling, Armand West, Gabe Trivers, and Eli Eckert.

The girls’ 4×400 meter relay featured Aubrey Myers, Neva Harke, Hazel Fisherkeller, and Stephanie Ish, and finished with a time of 4:24.66. The relay, which included two freshmen and two sophomores, was within one second of the current school record. The relay was seeded in 24th place, but came in with a 12th place finish! These ladies are confident that the school record will be theirs this outdoor season.

With the end of indoor season and the beginning of outdoor season, the track & field team is as strong and ready as ever, and they keep setting the bar higher for themselves and their team!
